Tsukimi

Viewing the moon

In October, look up. In Japan, Tsukimi is the festival of the autumn moon: a few dango on a small offering stand, susuki grass in a vase, and everyone looks for the rabbit pounding mochi on the moon.

This 8-page pack in autumn colours keeps you company all month. Each evening, you colour a moon drawn in its real phase, according to your mood. Your nights are traced across a starry sky, your habits turn into dango, and each thank-you colours a maple leaf from green to red. On 23 October, celebrate Jūsan’ya, the “thirteenth night”, and take on the thirteen-dango challenge.

In this pack

  1. Cover The Tsukimi festival and Kannazuki, “the month without gods”.
  2. Calendar The moon phases, Jūsan’ya, your intentions and plans.
  3. Mood 31 moons to colour, each in that evening’s phase.
  4. Sleep The sky of your nights, from bedtime to waking up.
  5. Habits One dango a day, and the thirteen-dango challenge.
  6. Gratitude One thank-you each evening, a maple leaf to colour.
  7. Notes A dot grid page for everything else.
  8. Review “The later moon”: what shone, what you take with you.
