The Beauty of Use

K A M I

K A M I is a brand inspired by the Japanese art of living, born from a passion for everyday objects, stationery, and creative practices involving paper.

Through a selection of Japanese stationery, home and office items, handcrafted creations, and creative experiences, K A M I celebrates a more mindful way of using the objects around us.

Yō no bi

The beauty of use

In Japan, there is a concept called yō no bi (用の美), which can be translated as "the beauty of use."

It expresses a simple idea: the beauty of an object lies not only in its appearance but in how it accompanies our daily lives.

A notebook that we open every morning.

A pen whose writing becomes familiar.

A mug that we choose without even thinking about it.

Through repeated use, some objects become precious.

Not because they are perfect, but because they naturally become part of our lives.

This philosophy guides each of K A M I's selections.

A selection guided by use

Each object is chosen with the same high standards.

We favor creations that combine quality, functionality, craftsmanship, and aesthetics, without ever sacrificing one for the other.

Japanese stationery, everyday objects, ceramics, handcrafted candles, creative tools, and office accessories find their place in a coherent universe, designed to accompany daily actions.

Objects that are used.

Objects that are kept.

Objects that endure over time.

Sharing the joy of creating

Paper holds a special place in Japanese culture.

As a medium for creation, organization, reflection, or correspondence, it accompanies daily life with simplicity and discretion.

At K A M I, this relationship with paper extends through journaling and creative workshops, designed as moments to slow down, explore one's creativity, and rediscover the pleasure of writing by hand.

Because creating doesn't always require more.

Sometimes, all it takes is a simple sheet of paper.

Why « K A M I »?

In Japanese, 紙 (kami) means "paper."

Paper is at the heart of our universe.

It is a simple, living, and infinitely creative material that accompanies ideas, memories, projects, and daily actions.

The word kami has several meanings in Japanese depending on the character used. The one that inspires us is , paper: a material that is both discreet and essential.

It symbolizes everything we wish to convey through K A M I: a taste for beautiful materials, respect for craftsmanship, the pleasure of using carefully designed objects, and the desire to restore importance to the simplest gestures.

Because we believe that beauty does not reside solely in objects.

It also arises from how we use them.
